Me, Tyson, Dillon, and Caroline had the opportunity to speak with the editor-in-chief of Coulture Magazine in order to discuss the project. This is the first promotion we've had that wasn't posted by me or Tyson, so it was a big deal for us. We had a lovely conversation that last almost 40 minutes, which was distilled into the article below. Give it a read.

We pretty much finalized our edit tonight. It took until 2:30 A.M but we got it done. Just a few more tweaks with audio and color correction from here. Editing can be boring and tedious but also a lot of fun. I think that we've created the best version of this film possible from our raw footage. I am so excited to show everyone very very soon.
We've done it! It's been long and not always easy, but we've done it. Now our editor will assemble a rough cut and we'll determine if anything is worth reshooting. My role is going to shift to focus on our promotion and marketing. Hopefully some film festivals will be interested in our project. Our premier will be at the CFA showcase in April. Until then, it's Cobblin' time.
We're over the hump! It's been a grind the past couple weeks, but more and more of the shot list has gotten crossed out. We have to be done by the beginning of March, and I'm confident we will hit that with a little breathing room. I probably won't give another update until we've wrapped. Onward!
First things first, I want to shout out the work ethic and professional conduct of our amazing cast and crew. There would be no short film without them, just me and Tyson sitting around twiddling our thumbs. The first day of our shoot was about basics: getting everyone accustomed to our ideal set environment and executing some of the simpler shots on our list. Despite that, the footage we got today is superb. We still have a long road ahead of us, but according to Lao Tzu, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step".
Last night we finalized costumes and shot photos for our poster. This was the first time our actors had any kind of "screen-test" outside of their audition tapes. Having already seen an unfinished version of the poster, I already know I'll be printing out a big, glossy version to hang in my room.
Sat down for an important meeting with members of our VFX Team. At first we were hesitant to use VFX at all. The quality of your effects can make or break the engagement of your audience (especially in horror projects). I'm happy to say our VFX models are looking great so far. We're utilizing a good combination of practical and visual effects that I think will be realistic for our budget while still looking awesome. Production starts incredibly soon. Be on the lookout for more blog posts, BTS photos, and promotional material.
Following the stressful process of casting our actors we were finally able to have some fun. We started the night with a full cast table read of the project and a storyboard breakdown from Tyson. Things are looking very, very promising in all aspects. Afterwards we went out to a local Chapel Hill spot for Hibachi!
As some of you may know, Carolina Film Association hosts an annual "Pitch Party" to promote it's slew of short films being produced through the organization. Me and Tyson had a great time meeting everyone and are incredibly excited for the start of this process!
